Although it is often perceived as a boring and difficult material, especially in understanding the concept of multiplication, this study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Problem Based Learning model (PBL) combined with the P4 basket media in improving students' problem-solving skills, understanding of mathematical concepts, and cognitive thinking skills. This study uses a quasi-experimental design by involving grade III students at SDN Kanigoro 03 Blitar Regency as a control and experimental group. The purposive sampling method was applied to select 26 students from class IIIA as the control group and 26 students from class IIIB as the experimental group. The instruments used in this study include observation sheets to monitor the learning process and cognitive ability tests consisting of 25 questions, consisting of 15 multiple-choice questions and 10 short-fill questions. The results show that the application of the PBL model supported by the P4 basket media can improve students' learning outcomes in multiplication materials, improve their understanding of mathematical concepts, and improve analytical thinking skills. These findings indicate that PBL can be an effective approach in teaching mathematics at the primary school level.
Nimas Wina Lestari, Eva Nurul Malahayati, Sripit Widiastuti Copyright (c) 2024 Nimas Wina Lestari, Eva Nurul Malahayati & Sripit Widiastuti https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/ https://ojs.fkip.umada.ac.id/index.php/mes/article/view/276 Fri, 27 Dec 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Strategy for Shaping the Religious Character of SDIT Students Through the Congregational Fardhu Prayer Program https://ojs.fkip.umada.ac.id/index.php/mes/article/view/233
Education plays a crucial role in shaping the attitudes, mindset, spirituality, and character of students, which in turn benefits both individual development and society as a whole. One of the innovations that has emerged is the use of Augmented Reality (AR) as a learning medium. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the use of AR in improving students' memory of learning materials. The method used in this study is the Kurl Lewin model action learning research method with a qualitative experimental approach that positions teachers to play an active role in implementing learning problem-solving interventions that occur in the learning of grade V students of SD Negeri Panjang Wetan 03 Pekalongan. The findings of this study show that AR media can facilitate students in understanding and remembering science material. In addition, AR is also effective in describing abstract concepts that are difficult to practice or observe directly. The implications of this research can be the basis for educators, policy makers, and learning media developers to implement AR technology more widely in the learning process, in order to improve the quality of education and enrich the learning experience of students.
Nurul Athiyah, Nala Ni’matul Maula, Abdul Khobir, Juwita Rini Copyright (c) 2024 Nurul Athiyah, Nala Ni’matul Maula, Abdul Khobir & Juwita Rini https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/ https://ojs.fkip.umada.ac.id/index.php/mes/article/view/273 Sat, 28 Dec 2024 00:00:00 +0000 The Effectiveness of Ethnoscience Learning Based on Local Wisdom Values in Elementary Schools https://ojs.fkip.umada.ac.id/index.php/mes/article/view/274
The ethnoscience learning strategy is designed to develop students' ethnographic insight into scientific knowledge by combining modern science with traditional knowledge possessed by local communities or specific ethnic groups. As such, its implementation in elementary schools is highly relevant for developing students' appreciation of local wisdom values. The assessment of its effectiveness served as the primary basis for conducting this study, which was analyzed using a case study-based mixed-methods approach involving teachers and students from grades IV, V, and VI as a representation of the population at SDN 1 Nalu. The findings show that ethnoscience learning, based on strengthening local wisdom values, is highly effective in several ways: (1) increasing students' understanding of ethnoscience concepts; (2) improving students' critical thinking skills related to the development of local wisdom and scientific insights; (3) fostering the development of scientific attitudes; and (4) promoting the development of students' character in relation to local wisdom. The implications of these findings suggest that ethnoscience learning is an approach that stimulates the development of students' scientific concepts in connection with cultural heritage and the practice of local wisdom values in Tolitoli Regency, thereby increasing students' awareness of regional cultural heritage.
Hamna, Muh.
